Social Care Nursing Advisory Councils (SCNACs)

17th January 2025

The Chairs of the seven regional Social Care Nursing Advisory Councils (SCNACs) were proud to host a virtual update on their progress. The event featured insights from Deborah Sturdy, Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care, and Duncan Burton, Chief Nursing Officer for England.

Nurse leaders from across health and social care highlighted how these councils are driving collaboration across the system. Current regional priorities include work on clinical competencies, delegation, research, and medication sustainability.

The chairs are proud to lead the councils, which have diverse memberships representing residential care, domiciliary care, learning disability services, education, mental health nursing, and more. This variety is crucial to ensuring social care nursing voices are heard alongside NHS colleagues, creating an integrated collaborative approach to health and social care.
