The Maples Care Home

This month, The Maples Care Home, part of Bracebridge Healthcare, proudly hosted an inspiring visit from The VIVALDI Social Care Team. Joining the usual lineup was Professor Lucy Chappell, Chief Scientific Advisor for the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). Joining them were colleagues from across the health and social care spectrum, creating a dynamic platform for collaboration and discussion.

The visit provided a unique opportunity for people living at The Maples, their families, and staff to connect with leaders in the field and share their thoughts on VIVALDI Social Care and ask any questions they had.

Professor Chappell reflected on the experience, highlighting its impact:

“Wonderful to visit The Maples Care Home this month to hear their experience with research and the important work of VIVALDI Social Care. The project demonstrates how data and innovation can be harnessed to address important issues within care settings. It’s inspiring to hear about the opportunities for research with care homes, driven by those living, visiting, and working there, to ensure the best possible care.”

She also emphasised the importance of ongoing support for social care research, noting that the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) continues to invest in the sector through programs such as the Research Programme for Social Care.

The visit was a celebration of collaboration, bringing together Local Authorities (LAs), Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), the NHS, researchers, and members of The Maples community.

Samantha Crawley, CEO of Bracebridge Healthcare, expressed her excitement about the event:

“We were thrilled to invite such a broad section of people involved in the social care sector to hear more about VIVALDI Research in social care. Those living and working in the home really enjoyed discussing the art of the possible with this research, and we are proud to be part of it all. Thank you for enabling us to hear more about this groundbreaking research and how important it is for Social Care and Health Care as a whole.”
