The Knoll Care Partnership is a family owned and managed residential care provider. Having operated two smaller care homes in Trafford for over 30 years, we moved into our new purpose built and luxuriously styled home in October 2019. Bowfell House continues to run on the same ethos of extending our family approach to care to all who live and work here.

Bowfell House was absolutely thrilled to achieve an Outstanding CQC Rating on their first inspection in August 2021, with the inspector recording:

“People were at the heart of the service; receiving outstanding care that was personalised to them, taking account of their individual needs and wishes. Without exception people, relatives and professionals were full of praise about Bowfell House and the whole staff team. Bowfell House was exceptionally well-led and this was consistently echoed by people and staff we spoke with.

The rating served to cement the values base which is present in every interaction that occurs throughout the home. Consistently working with high levels of integrity and compassion, all of our people are absolutely central to everything we do.

Castleford House Nursing Home, part of the Milkwood Care group, is an Outstanding-rated nursing home in Chepstow.

Castleford House specialises primarily in dementia care, but cares for people with a variety of conditions. We take a risk-positive approach to caring for people, seeking to enable everyone to reach their potential, no matter what. We aim to show people that nursing homes do not need to be “the last stop”, but just another exciting journey. 

We are extensive and thorough in our recruitment, induction, training and supervision practices, empowering the team to innovate and develop and work to their fullest potential and enabling them to progress not just at Castleford House but in future careers by becoming management in other locations or going to university to become nurses, social workers, paramedics, occupational therapists and more.

Castleford House is currently creating and utilising training or development programs that will benefit not just the team and people living at the home, but other care settings if they wish to learn from us.

Our lifestyles and activity program provides enrichment and stimulation. Most of what we do is subtle but meaningful and empowering, promoting choice and enhancing people’s esteem and wellbeing.

Registered Manager Ben Miller is a Registered Mental Health Nurse who has worked at Castleford since October 2006, leaving briefly to complete his degree 2011-2013. Ben has worked his way from care assistant to nurse to deputy manager to finally becoming Registered Manager in June 2016. His first CQC inspection was in September 2016, achieving “Good” across all areas and then again in April 2019, achieving overall “Outstanding”. In 2019 the Castleford House management team were nominated for Caring UK’s “Management Team of the Year” award.”

are suitable for possible  NMC revalidation /Continual Professional Development use. 

This innovative, nurse led collaboration respects and promotes the art of nursing  in end of life care, ensuring compassionate care and the anticipation of needs throughout this very special journey.
